Why redaction?
Covering text with black shapes in a reader isn’t enough—underlying text can still be copied. Real redaction removes data.
What you can do
- Remove names, SSNs, account numbers from PDFs
- Prepare FOIA or discovery-safe documents
- Share screenshots of logs without leaking secrets
How to redact
- Open Redact PDF and upload the file.
- Select areas to redact; confirm removal.
- Save the redacted PDF and verify copy/paste is clean.
Example: Redact customer emails from a support export before posting to a wiki.
Pro tip: After redacting, open in a fresh viewer and try selecting “hidden” text to audit your work.
