Compress PDFs Online: Smaller Files, Same Readability

· PDF Junkie guides

Why compress a PDF?

Large PDFs are hard to email, slow to open on mobile, and expensive to store. Compression removes redundant data and optimizes images so the file gets smaller while text stays sharp for reading on screen.

What you can do

  • Reduce file size by a large margin in one click
  • Choose a quality preset tuned for screen, ebook, print, or prepress
  • Keep your document structure—no need to recreate the PDF from scratch

How to use PDF Junkie Compress

  1. Go to Compress PDF and upload your file (drag-and-drop or browse).
  2. Select a compression quality: Screen for smallest size, Ebook for a balanced default, Printer or Prepress when print quality matters.
  3. Click Compress PDF and download the result.
Example: A 12 MB scan-heavy report might drop to under 2 MB on Ebook, making it attachable to email while staying readable.
Pro tip: For mostly text PDFs, Ebook is often enough. For slides with photos, try Printer first, then compress again if the size is still too high.
